The Forbes Field Management Group wishes to acknowledge the magnificent support of our local disaster relief charity, RE:ACT, based in the old RAF Chilmark site, who have assisted us over three volunteer Field Days in Forbes Field.
It is intended that our community orchard should have 4 old - veteran - Crab Apple trees, an existing Elder, and 44 new fruit trees. On 3 December 2022, 22 young fruit trees were planted in the orchard as shown in the diagram. On 11 February 2023 we intend to plant a further 19, leaving a balance of three Mulberries, which we have yet to source, outstanding.

As a concept the Forbes Field rejuvenation has been very well received in the village. We were lucky enough to attract donations and tree sponsorship from 49 different households. Some people chose specific fruit trees and we have pledges of money for 44 specified trees (eaters, pears, gage etc). In due course we will have a dedicated notice board which sets out who has sponsored each tree in our wonderful orchard.

In addition, we have pledges for another 27 non fruit trees. These trees will be planted elsewhere in the field, in the half moon area on the western flank and in other locations where it makes most sense.
